Welcome to above average rains in the eastern US in recent years. The yellow line is the mean lake level for 80 years. The green line is the actual lake levels for 2021 The blue line is the actual lake level for this year. The blue line is ramping straight up at at almost 555 this morning. Predicted to hit full pool of 556 tomorrow. It looks like it will be 5 to 8 days before dropping back to arrowhead collecting level of 551/552. Assuming no more heavy rain events lol. Being this site is 6 hours from my home it has been a bit of a challenge to avoid the bouncing low lake levels over the years. I have to skip trips at times for years due to tricky trip coordinations with low water levels. Coordinating with other people adds to the complexity. brybry saxplayerI often go with wife since I have some control over her schedule(well I don't tell her that !). Plus I forget where some of the Native camps at this vast area are located at after a few of years. Lake Pickwick, Lake Wilson, this Lake Wheeler and Lake Guntersville all behave like this. Must be 100 miles of lakes. All are hot collecting areas. I knew a pearl diver from Muscle Shoals(yes freshwater pearls in some of these lakes)that found incredible artifacts while diving. He supplemented his income substantially by selling his finds. Muscle Shoals music history. Favorite road song when off collecting Favorite lady to come home to(years ago ). Decorating with a frame of bird points.

It's all good brother. I'm a weekend warrior anyway unless school is out.

Wow... My wife & I certainly enjoy playing in the mud and learning new tricks! Also, love all things Native.
That said, your hunting zone is a bit more of a day trip than we can undertake at this time. (More like an extended weekend.) However, if you do plan a future hunt that might be open to RTH folks, we might be game.

That said, your hunting zone is a bit more of a day trip than we can undertake at this time. (More like an extended weekend.) However, if you do plan a future hunt that might be open to RTH folks, we might be game. The day after the trip was planned 3+ inches of rain filled the lake up LazerFlash. Scheduling collecting trips to Wheeler is hit/miss. It would be short notice ! Hopefully an RTH group can meet there one day. Arrowhead hunting is easy. Just visit your local large reservoir when the water is low and collect on exposed flat spots. **flat spots Look for thin rock chips of quartz/flint/chert/agate/wood. Nature can not make such high speed thin impact chips, only man. There may be rules about not collecting artifacts. Proceed as you will...
