A good home run only needs one swing of the bat. One of a kind slices off of the edge often work well with petrified woods. Yes the uneven back is a challenge for some uses, but life is like that. I've been doing rind cuts off of brazilian agates to produce miniature scenes as well.

I love it! Another great example of taking a seam agate and trying to get something a little "more" out of it! Did you slice the rest of it, or was there no discernable "value" in the rest of the piece? The cut face on the piece you did cut is gorgeous! Definitely worth picking up when it looks like that!

That turned out quite nice!
I accidentally zoomed in a little too much and was shocked to see that it looked like a photograph of gray rocks in rough water, like river rapids or waves crashing on a rocky beach.

Did you slice the rest of it, or was there no discernable "value" in the rest of the piece? Sorry, I did not see your question sooner. I did not try to slice the other side. First of all it was junk - the dark rind on the other side of the piece was very thin and also there would have been no way to fit it into the slab grabber without cutting through the screws. Makes me wish I had loaded up my truck with the material when I had the chance tho. I'll add that to the long list of missed rock opportunities
