So spring is upon us and some of the hounding spots in the lower elevations will be accessible due to no snow. Any Oregon peeps have plans to get out and do some hounding? If anyone plans to be in central Oregon, maybe we can link up and do a trip out at glass buttes. (Non-Oregon people feel free to share your spring hounding plans as well)

I plan to drive up to almost Oregon near the end of March when the Gary Green, Freedom, caldera, whatever jasper mine will be open to some fee digging. Might venture a little further North if time and schedule permits. They will be doing the same thing at the Amy Sage mine early in March, but we have too much happening here to deal with that one. Will be in OR and possibly WA in June/July for a bit, and hope to return through Utah this time

I might be visiting family in Oregon this spring/summer. Glass buttes would be awesome to visit and hound.

I need to hit the river in the Willamette Valley, it's super low... Usually try to hit Glass Buttes about twice a year too... Gotta cross the Cascades to get there, I'm not doing that as of yet...LOL

Way ahead of ya! Went to the Kramer Hills near Kramer Junction on Sunday with the Victor Valley Gem And Mineral Club and got some petrified palm root, opalite, and some various agate/jaspery materials! What a site this place is, literally walking on tumbling material with every step in some spots! This spot was just in Lapidary Dave’s last show on YouTube posted about a day ago. I didn’t make it in the video but my truck is in there lol!

As soon as I get home, I’m planning on hitting a few spots and documenting them so members can see exactly where some of their favorite materials have come from.

I went out to bear creek last month. Idk where Kramer Valley is, will have to look that one up. I would like to go out to glass buttes soon as well. When were you thinking? Rockoonz thanks for sharing link, didn't know about the amethyst sage trip.

Rockoonz thanks for sharing link, didn't know about the amethyst sage trip. We're going to start the slow roll up to McDermitt in a week for the dig there, John has told me he will bring some Amy Sage for me to get as well, hopefully that means enough for others too if you decide to go. If not I'll share. I'm hoping to meet the 500# threshhold, maybe convince a couple people to combine hauls when paying to get the $3/lb for all. The van is a 1 ton but we also need space to sleep.

Very cool. Yeah you need space to sleep! I'm not going to make it I don't think. If I do though, are there (decent) places to stay in McDermitt? I can get A Sage here, so it's the thrill of it and people that would be the draw.

However with fuel prices, I might be holding off and sticking closer to town.

Yeah, gas prices will be keeping me home, got to save up for June. Yeah, I feel ya. I got some places closer to town I can hit up. I’m thinking I also might go out to the batcaves etc.. and take some pics and show people where some of the material came from. These prices have really put a damper on my spring break to say the least. Hopefully I’ll see ya in June.
