Too cold to grind. Sunday thru Tuesday 10 degrees warmer.

A little frostbite on your fingertips builds character. Or do what I did and buy insulated rubber gloves. Or... just wait for it to be 10 degrees warmer. Not a bad option, either.

I dopped these: The Morgan Hill fractured into the girdle so I flipped it. Two Mescalero. Blue Mountain that I hope will gain contrast when polished. Two Tahomas that need to be taken to improve their appearance.

I ground down the Tahomas to see how they will finish and got the best I could with what I had to work with.

Mescalero can have beautiful patterns but tends to fracture. I thought about going to the next smaller pear but some of the the best part of the pattern is on the bottom. I will redop and see what happens next.

They are all through 1200 grit so I don't expect any more surprises. I will finish them tomorrow morning. The Mescalero has a few minor vugs in the girdle but it should look like this when finished:

I usually polish with 100k diamond paste and get good results on most material. Lately the results haven't been as good because there was less paste on the canvas. I remembered I had a partial syringe left over from when I did a new canvas pad. I used some cabs I completed to work the paste in by hand. The shine improved and I still haven't figured out to show it well in photos.
