Just a few new ones. These Polka Dot agate cabs came from a narrow slab with a crack running down the middle. All I could make were skinny cabs. I decided on some elongated tear drops. Finally, a Montana Moss Agate:Front Back

Awesome job. Did you check the MMA for iris. Looks like it has potential to me.

Awesome job. Did you check the MMA for iris. Looks like it has potential to me. It's got a certain sheen when lit from the front, but no iris when back lit. I did check. I think the bronzy sheen is caused by very fine banding, when some bands are more translucent than others. In other words, it's sort of like shadow agate (parallax) banding, but much finer bands than most "shadow" agates. I get this bronzy-sheen effect in most of the very clear Montana agates (when front lit), but I've yet to find a Montana agate with the iris effect (when back lit). I know Montana agates can have the iris effect. And I know what I'm looking, for since I have cut a few Oregon agates with varying degrees of the iris effect. All of the iris agates I've cut had quartz in them, and the iris effect was in a milky looking right next to the quartz. I know there are agates with no quartz that have the iris effect, but I've yet to find any. Have you cut any Montana agates with the iris effect? If so, I'd love to see.

By that I mean that I have cut a few small ones that seem to have it but it's just a narrow band or two and hard to be sure. I know it has to be cut pretty thin though.

Very well done, I really love all 4. The MMA is phenomenal but the polka dot agates are very fun! I need to find a few polka dot cabs for my girls to make necklaces lol

Wow, polka dot does not get much better than that. Awesome cabs all. It is rare to find Polka Dot agate that lives up to its name so well. These came from a 1 pound-ish piece I got about a year ago from the previous mine operator. I'd like more if I ever have the chance.

Beautiful cabs, holajonathan! Those Polka Dot cabs are killer. The MMA is sweet, too.

I was waiting to see these pics on the laptop!
That Polka Dot Agate really does take an amazing polish. I think those skinny teardrops worked out amazingly well.
That MMA looks spectacular. It looks like it has a low dome! I've still got two on dop that came from you that I need to get completed...
