I'm just an old retired Desert Rat. I frequent the Mojave whenever I can. I've had a Lortone 2-drum for many years as a way to preserve some of my finds. Not a heck of a lot of tumbling but enough to stay interested. I love the feeling of well polished Jasper.
Lately I have found a lot of Apache Tears and finishing them in a drum is a challenge so I'm looking for a vibratory tumbler. I favor the design of the Lot-O but it sure is pricey. (and not available right now) Many other cheaper designs just don't look very durable.
One of my other hobbies is flint knapping so I come into a lot of raw materiel there too.
Anyway, just saying "HI" -Bill-

Welcome from Charles Town WV. (Think John Brown's pre-Civil War raid.)
I'm contemplating adding another tumbler, either a double-barrel rotary from Harbor Freight, or perhaps one from the other end of the spectrum - a Lortone 33B

Welcome to the board Bill. I hail from South Carolina and do a little flint knapping on occasion.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I appreciate it. Sadly I have tendonitis or arthritis in both hands centering on my thumbs so my flintknapping has dropped off quite a bit. But I can still walk the desert and pick up rocks. The fun is in the finding. -Bill-

Hi crazybill and welcome! You'll fit right in around here. Why? Because of the rock part, or the "crazy" part! (Maybe a bit of both! LOL) crazybill - Sorry to hear about the tendonitis or arthritis. I went through a spell last year with both thumbs acting up with one of the two of those causes (I refused to go to the doc, so I don't know what it was, besides PAINFULL!). I used some arthritis pain cream (Walmart brand) on both thumbs pretty religiously for a couple months. Finally the pains went away and has been gone (for the most part) ever since.

Sadly I have tendonitis or arthritis in both hands centering on my thumbs... My wife has had increasing arthritic issues with her thumbs. She had surgery 5 months ago on her right thumb which has been a tremendous success! If you want more details, PM me and I'm more than happy to share.
