Those Owyhee ones are very nice, but who wouldn't appreciate a good BM.

Win some lose some. I had limited design choices for the Blue Mountain and am pleased how the appearance improved. The Owyhee that fractured and recut, fractured again so I need to recut as a free form. It is less scenic but not a total loss. Wet of the wheels at 280 soft.

This is my favorite. You framed the pattern well. As nice as Blue Mountain looks in slab form, it's not easy to capture the orbs in a meaningful way. My experience with the Royal Imperial is you lose more than you win. Just a low yielding material. But when you finish a good one, you forget about all the ones that didn't turn out that great.

I prefer the orbs to be vertical like hills. I bought it as a fractured slab and was limited in the framing and orientation by fractures. I wanted to get all the orbs and some other colors for contrast. The finished cab came out better than I could have expected. I ground out the chip on the Owyhee and took a better picture. I used the entire slab for the cab and there was only one design choice. I bought some Royal Imperial rough from the Gem Shop. It was supposed to be super select. I can usually study a rock and figure out the yield. So can they and the rock they sent was just grabbed and tossed in a box. I let them know about what I received. If I order from them again (not likely) I will ask for them to be more diligent in what they send. Rough is always a gamble and I can't make a decent return on investment on slabs. I may be doing a webinar for Highland Park. They asked me what I wanted to cover and I said buying lapidary material online and it all comes down to YIELD

Beauties! My favorites are the first and the third ones.
