I find myself needing to be out and about hunting for rocks. Love agates but I need help identifying most rocks I’ve already found.

Welcome agatetogetaway . In the section "Additional Rock Related Topics" there is A section for "Rock Identification Help". I don't know much about identifying rocks but post pictures there and you might get them figured out.

Welcome to the forum.
Good clear close up pics of the dry stone in natural lighting can help a lot. Other info such as hardness, density (or at least feels heavy or light), streak and if it reacts to acids like vinegar can all help with identification.
