Those are completely, totally awesome! I like how the twisted wire catches the light and looks like super mini LEDs strips.

Daannggg those teepee canyons are cool. Excellent job Thanks Lunk!  I seriously NEVER get tired of either cabbing or wrapping Teepee Canyon Agates! LOL - I have four more on dop right now! LOL Those are completely, totally awesome! I like how the twisted wire catches the light and looks like super mini LEDs strips. Thanks Bry! I'm a HUGE fan of working with that twisted square wire...for that reason right there! Thanks my friend! I can show you right where I found the nodules for these! Beautiful! Love that last one with all the druzy.  Thanks Robin! That one with the druzy is the cab that won the contest a few months ago. You sure know how to make a teepee shine! Those look great Jason. Keep em coming! Thanks Perk! They're definitely a fun material to work. They're relatively "easy" to a point...at least compared to some other materials. |

The last one is my favorite. You really get to see the stone Thanks Ali! That last one is my favorite too...it's in my top 5 favorite cabs I've done so far. I tried to keep the "bling" off the fortifications...the brown matrix is kinda "blah"...so I don't mind putting a little girly swirl in that area. Stunning work, all of them! Thank you so much! I'm chomping at the bit to get back out to Teepee Canyon and get some more material...not that I'm lacking for it or anything! LOL |

There's a rock show/swap here in June...so I'm trying to focus on wrapping a lot of Teepee Canyon Agates since they're a local rock. There's no vender fee...so I'm thinking that'll be my first "show" I'm going to sell at...or try to! LOL |

I get how to adjust for better cabs (material rarity), or a more intricate wrap...but I really don't know where I should be placing the starting point. I can guarantee you there will be a few wraps that are going to be priced extremely high...because I'm not too sure I want them to sell! LOL Going back through the archives, this subject has been brought up several times...and I still didn't find an answer that gave me insight for my own pieces. LOL |

True story: We do a couple of shows on the Square with the club every year. One of the gals does really nice intarsia cabs. She had them out and was wondering why nobody was buying them. She had them priced dirt cheap. I told her to raise her prices. There is a perception that if something is priced too low that something is wrong with it or it isn't desirable. She raised the prices on them (still too cheap) but she did sell some. I totally get pricing some stuff too high because you really don't want to sell it. I have an opal that is priced at my "stupid price" because I don't want to sell it. If someone wants to pay my stupid price (which is REALLY stupid), they can have it. |

This is the formula that seems to be pretty much the "norm" for figuring pricing. Where I'm stuck at is answering that question at the beginning...what I WANT to be paid and what I SHOULD be paid by the hour may not match! LOL The lady who bought the Condor piece is a long-time family friend. She is 100% the target demographic for wraps. She understands the the difference in material costs - such as Fairburn prices versus Prairie Agate prices. She also understands the complexity of wire-wrapping as she took a class and attempted it...but didn't feel she had the knack for it. I put her on the spot when she was over looking at all my wraps. Since none of my pieces are priced, I asked her what she would expect to see on a piece she had picked up. I don't remember which one it was, but it was a "base" piece. She said she wouldn't be surprised to see $100 as a price tag. I had a hard time swallowing that (thinking it was a bit high) since she's a good friend of my mom...but she's also they type of person who doesn't hold punches with the things she says! LOL |

I've heard that first part too...I think it was Hank who mentioned that same issue awhile back. Last year when I was at the same rock swap, I looked around to see what people had listed for their wrapped pieces. There really weren't a lot of people offering wraps. The few pieces I did see, I thought were priced stupid high...like $180 for a small wrapped cab (can't remember the material) - and the wrap wasn't really all that intricate. It was in silver...but still... Yeah...there's a couple Teepees and Fairburn pieces that are going to be offered with the "stupid price"! LOL I also plan to have the pieces in display cases...and have numerous "empty" slots in the cases...so it appears pieces are selling! LOL |
