True story: We do a couple of shows on the Square with the club every year. One of the gals does really nice intarsia cabs. She had them out and was wondering why nobody was buying them. She had them priced dirt cheap. I told her to raise her prices. There is a perception that if something is priced too low that something is wrong with it or it isn't desirable. She raised the prices on them (still too cheap) but she did sell some. I totally get pricing some stuff too high because you really don't want to sell it. I have an opal that is priced at my "stupid price" because I don't want to sell it. If someone wants to pay my stupid price (which is REALLY stupid), they can have it. I've heard that first part too...I think it was Hank who mentioned that same issue awhile back. Last year when I was at the same rock swap, I looked around to see what people had listed for their wrapped pieces. There really weren't a lot of people offering wraps. The few pieces I did see, I thought were priced stupid high...like $180 for a small wrapped cab (can't remember the material) - and the wrap wasn't really all that intricate. It was in silver...but still... Yeah...there's a couple Teepees and Fairburn pieces that are going to be offered with the "stupid price"! LOL I also plan to have the pieces in display cases...and have numerous "empty" slots in the cases...so it appears pieces are selling! LOL We always put a "sold" sticker on the empty spaces on the opal trays just so we can keep track of them. Lots of sticky fingers at shows so make sure you pay attention!

I had a friend years ago that had an antique shop and was having trouble selling an old bed for $1200. He raised the price another 400 dollars and sold it right away. He said people like to brag to folks about how much they paid for things. Personally, I always like a deal when I see one and take great pride in paying as little as possible. Great wraps on some beautiful stones jasoninsd

That is SO simple...and SO genius! It wouldn't have occurred to me to do that...thanks so much for mentioning it! True story: We do a couple of shows on the Square with the club every year. Isn't it amazing what "motivates" some people! I'm more of a "bargain" shopper than I am a pretentious one...so I too try to find deals. I want to be smart about the pricing. I want to have some "affordable" pieces - along with some higher dollar pieces...at least that's what I want to aim for...
