Kingsley North Resin Wheels
I'm looking to see if anyone else has first hand experience with KN resin wheels. I purchased their Cabber 6 (or my husband did as a present for me) back in Dec. And 7 finished cabs later & the 3000 resin wheel has started to break up.
I'm just starting this- although have been using a flat lap previously- and I'm not heavy handed with any tools I have & yes I was definitely running the water.
So my question is, has anyone else experienced this short of a life with the KN wheels ??
I know I know I should have purchased the unit with the Nova wheels to begin with - but it was a stretch to get it at all, and I told myself that as the KN wheels go, I'd replace them with Nova wheels. But it sure seems pretty quick for hobby use.
I plan to call them tomorrow- but of course the wheels are not included in any warranty ( not surprising).
Any insight or experiences appreciated, Patty

I don't have any experience with their wheels, but they are very good to work with. I'll bet they replace it for you.

Hey Patty,
Is there any way you can post pictures of the wheels? I think a lot of people would like to see what you're experiencing, so we could get a better idea of what's happening specifically with the wheels.
I'm curious, how did you break them in? Seven cabs isn't even close to the amount of time for breaking them in...
(None of that was supposed to sound snotty! LOL)

My lithuanian soft rez wheel arrived Wednesday and it looks ferocious. I was buying JB supernova until they raised their price.

Here's a photo so you can see what I'm talking about.
The surface started peeling off in one place.
I spoke with KN this morning- I guess I'll have to see what happens.
I know that they are not Nova quality, but I certainly thought they would last a bit longer than a couple of months.
jasoninsd- Yes I did break the wheels in when I first got he machine. I ground a piece of scrap agate on all the wheels for a short amount of time. Don't know what else I was supposed to do.

I'm pleased you posted a pic Patty! (That's a lot of "P's"! LOL) That looks like a VERY defective wheel! You're right, there's no way it should be doing that...not when the wheels are as new as they are! I've had VERY good experiences with Kingsley North's customer service...so I'm really hoping they're going to make this right for you. There might not be a warranty on the wheels...but when it's clearly a manufacturing issue, I'd really like to think they're going to stand behind their products. *That's exactly what I did to break in my Nova wheels...a chunk of Flor de Durazno Lace Agate (Crazy Lace).

Sadly I just got an e-mail back from KN & they are NOT willing to replace it.
They did send me replacement felts for free when they quickly blew out ( but I think you saw that as well).
They told me that it shouldn't affect the performance. Not thrilled.
So I'm headed to post a separate thread asking about JB Super Nova wheels.
I know that Nova wheels are the best and all - but they are costly so looking for an in between alternative.
Thanks for the confirmation jasoninsd that I broke them in right.
