Three barrels went on today at 80. One of my bigger tumblers isnt working - but I think its related to the cold as the other one which is the same model also struggled. The one which isnt working just makes a buzzing sound - like its trying to turn the bar but cannot. The morrow I shall bring it in the house and let it warm before plugging it in. I think (I hope) that should sort it - its done me proud anyway if its packed up.

probably a gunked up shaft- in the cold the lube will stiffen up and stop the shaft from turning- Hope you get it working!

Nice haul Mark, James is quite a nice guy!
You know you may want to cut a slice or two of the Rainbow Obsidian before you break it up to tumble.
Correct me if I'm wrong James, if you saw cut the rainbow, perpendicular to those lines (striations?) at about a 3 degree angle to the lines, it will bring out some really nice wide color bands. I have some here that I've yet to cut, because I'm chicken! But I have some that a friend cut that is too nice for words.
Just a thought.

I'm so excited I finally got some of James' obsidian moved into 120/200. Been working this since the 28th of October. There's some pieces I slabbed and some that were broken pieces, some very nice shapes.

Mark - Your friends at Google are mining something strange on this page.
Two of the ads at the top are for psoriasis pictures and pictures of dwarfs?

That way more color is exposed. Yes, the closer you follow the lines, the wider the bands.

Unfortunately I cant cut it as I dont have a saw - I only tumble for my sins "Mark - Your friends at Google are mining something strange on this page. Two of the ads at the top are for psoriasis pictures and pictures of dwarfs? Rich" Well - theres a great example of just how thick the PHDs at g o og le really are eh? Sometimes I wonder how they got so popular - pictures of "dwarfs" on a rock tumbling website. Need I say more? Ok - I will - just one thing - www.msn.comWalks all over that big daft engine they call g o og le.
