Ok - Im sat downstairs this morning at about 8 or 9am and the front doorbell rings. I think - eh up - who could be visiting at such an early hour?
Anyway - theres this guy stood there in the rain holding a box - so I take it in - open it - and What The??
;D OMG
So I have laid out the contents of the box - and here we go - James has labelled each as below.
1. American Carnelian.
Gorgeous looking - with bands of orangy/reds/browns.
2. Glass Buttes - Pumpkin
Never had any thing like this to tumble - looks and feels "obsidian" like. Its gonna be good
3. Glass Buttes - Midnight Lace
Very fine bands - I can see cross sections of the "Milky Way" in this - looking at the galactic plane.
4. Texas Springs Limb Cast.
Stunning stuff - pastel shades of light purple - I havent done anything like this - nothing like it at all.
5. Glass Buttes - Mahogany Flow
A whopper of a slab with incredible "flowing bands" which follow the shape of the rock as though its been "poured" out - is it volcanic? - It will have to go under the hammer for tumbling - although I think I might regret having to do that!!
6. Glass Buttes - Rainbow
This looks jet black on its broken edges - but there appears to be very very - and I mean VERY fine bands running through it. Or maybe its the shimmer? Absolutely dying to get it rolling. This is a fine type of rock for the collection. - I havent done anything so black.
7. Snowflake Obsidian.
Ive looked at posts of this in envy on here in the past - and have looked out for it at manchester minerals but have never seen any until very recently and I didnt have the money on me at the time - even then though I wasnt sure about its quality. Now I have some of my own
8. Montana Moss (agate?)
Contains hairlike whisps - curves of black/brown against a grey
9. Brazilian Baby..... (blue agate?)
An awesome blue hue to it which is a BIG HIT here with me as Blue Lace is one of my favourite blue stones. This is a deeper blue - surpassing the deepest blue of any Blue Lace Ive done. Its a shame to tumble it - but I HAVE TO - YOU UNDERSTAND ;D - Sure?
10. OMG - no comments can describe - need I say anything other than "THANKYOU".? I cant. But I will show you what I do with it when Im ready.
11. My mess.
As you can see - my kitchen is a mess round the sink as Ive been fiddling with that Malachite still - and some other blue lace.
James - tomorrow - (SAT) is an ALL DAY hobby day for me thanks to all this.
Its time to tidy up - and get all 4 machines going I think........
Im gobsmacked and so is the missus.
Thanks VERY MUCH for all this - ive got your address.
Be sure to see the stuff on the go in this section as it progresses.
Flounders for words.
Mark.
