Tide, sand, and bedrock have finally all agreed to let me extract a few bits of the agate/calcedony that are big enough to make a tap handle. And for once, the trail was not a two mile muddy slide. And as always, it is a nice hike, even without finding good rocks. IMG20220315105232 by nik1924, on Flickr IMG20220315112754 by nik1924, on Flickr

nik, whereabouts are these beaches? (Not precise location...just general.) I look forward to seeing some more tap handles...it's been awhile.

About a 2 mile hike from the road. If you do a little sleuthing, the hint is that one of the pictures was taken from a 300 year old bridge.

I love the arches in that thing!

This is a slightly better picture of the calcedony, Sadly the green is really soft and crumbly. I may need to try my hand at stabilizing. IMG20220316105141 by nik1924, on Flickr

That is GORGEOUS! It definitely looks like it's a great candidate to be stabilized...it appears like it would be well worth the effort!

I am pretty sure the big piece you got was one my wife took a picture of to show me. She went on that hike shortly before you posted this. Nice find!!
