Hello All I was gifted this today from a wonderful coworker and he said he has a lot more to bring in for me but he wasn't sure if it was what he thought it was. It is pet wood right? Looks line wood but doesn't clink like wood.I am sure this is an ADVANCED ADVANCED ADVANCED media so I won't ask questions until i am that ADVANCED. I'll just tuck it away for a rainy day

Not certain if you are joking, but, Pet. Wood is some of the easiest material to tumble with the caveat that you have solid pieces. The photos shown above are not what I would consider solid pieces: they are full of fractures and pits. If they were mine, I would probably clean them up a little prior to tumbling by splitting them as shown below.

I would agree that this wood does not on the surface look to be material that would be suitable for tumbling, too soft and too porous. You may want to check to see if the interior is a bit harder. Have seen pieces of wood here in Texas that are not river-tumbled and have a soft light colored coating that sometimes hides a nice interior. Splitting as shown would let you see the interior.

Everything i am reading it sounded like it was an Advanced media. O will try it. Its from New Mexico so its either sage, pinioñ. I don't know for sure
