Batcave jasper. I did this free-hand. No dop. No stencil. Found the piece as a triangle and perfect thickness and went from there. Don't know what those weird marks are when I took the pic. I swear they are not scratches haha. All criticism welcome, as I never make cabs. Enjoy

I love it! The tones in the colors in that piece really are amazing! Great girdle and dome on that piece!!
Not a critique - just advice...you'll want to put a slight bevel on that bottom edge. It keeps a cab from chipping when being wrapped or bezel set...and it'll clean up those slight chip marks there along the bottom edge.

I think you did a very respectable job with a difficult shape. Like jasoninsd suggests- you should put a little bevel on the back. I would add that you should run the corners over the 600 a little to knock them down a bit, too. Otherwise, your dome is sweet and the shape is perfect.

I can't tell for sure, Scalene, Isosceles, or equalateral? I really like batcave, and what you did with that is nice. It does tend to be what I call a "chippy" material so as they said above, slightly rounding any sharp corners makes life easier. Don't see the layers of dendrites in that stuff all the time, definitely works on that cab.

Thanks guys. I’ll put it back on the wheels, clean it up and make those adjustments.

Took your guys/gals advice as well as reached out to jasoninsd, which resulted in me making this bat guano avocado. I think it came out really nice, considering my experience with cabbing. Taken in the rain because indoor lighting sucks. See attachment at end.

realrockhound - It's about time you made a halfway decent cab! I guess this one will do... All kidding aside, the shape and the dome on that one is amazing. The pattern capture that came out while you were doming that one is spectacular! This really is some amazing material...and an awesome cab for anyone...and I know how often you make cabs...which is even more impressive! I was lucky enough to see the preform before this one was worked...and you really did do justice to this piece! Fantastic job putting that bevel around the bottom edge...it's perfect...now we just need to get you to work the girdle.

I’m sorry I let you down. Guess I’ll just throw it in the trash and start all over again 😂. On a serious note, thanks for the advice and I will fix that girdle. Now that you mention it, it does look like crap not being finished with the rest of the cab.

Great job! I see you had no trouble with a low dome.

Both cabs are beautiful! I've never worked Bat Cave, but I sure do like it.

Great job! I think you're a natural. You have fine sense of proportion, pattern and shape. One little question. On both cabs I notice what may (or may not) be fine scratches on the bezel edge. It could also be the stone's pattern or my tired eyes. Anyhow, amazing work for someone who's just starting.

But don’t worry, jasoninsd already called me and ripped me a apart for not polishing the bezel 😂

That first photo is awesome. The cab looks like it's glowing, and the rain drop adds some dramatic effect. The cab is nicely done as well. The coffee / tan / cream tones remind me of Bruneau jasper.

I love bat cave and you've done it proud! I enjoy how it's slightly porous and the colors can change slightly when "wet"

Really nice job on a material that can be tricky
