Howdy Folks, Just got back from another 10 days at the ranch last Thursday. Was mostly raining cats and dogs so I put on my raingear and went rock hunting. Managed to find some pretty good vein sections at one of my new sites. Light is bad for taking pics right now and I'll post some more later but heres a few examples of what I managed to mud out of the ground this time out. First pic is a thirty pound hunk of banded and flowering jasper. Second is another piece I hard rock mined in the same area ( about 8 pounds) and the final pic is a closeup of an unusual five pounder with nice orbs against a dark purple background. Hammered out some nice Strawberry Jasper in the same area but the pic didn't come out. I'll try again later when the light is better. Enjoy...Mel

Mel-
You have really turned up some quality tumbling rough from that ranch of yours. I've enjoyed seeing all your picts as you really have a nice variety of material around.

Mel, Great Material once again. Have you ever bulldozed any cuts on your ranch? You have some seriously awesome Jasper! Speechless! Steve

Steve: Most of the material I've collected in the area comes from several roadcuts. I also find quite a bit where the grazing stock has exposed the bare ground or in the creekbed. I have one place where I'd love to get a dozer in but no real way to cross the creek without major construction and then there's the resistence from my wife who doesn't appreciate any scars in the landscape. Actually, I find as much as I can use just by going out for walks but I know what you mean, sometimes I just want to flat rip up this one hillside and see whats below the grass!!!! Mel
