Hello, I was searching for something rock related when I came across the website twinrocksandcrystals.com/ I found their site to be interesting, and I liked the pricing of their rough rock and the flat rate shipping they offer. I chose to buy 3 pounds of blue tiger eye, and 3 ponds of desert jasper. The blue tiger eye is a little big for my 3 pound barrels. I will need to cut a lot of the pieces in half, but still very nice material. The desert jasper is also quite nice. Most of the pieces are very colorful, with just a few that are really grey. I have not tried any of the rocks I bought. I need to finish what I currently have going. Maybe in a few weeks I will be ready to try a batch.

Thanks for this review oldtimerock! I have never heard of this site before but I found myself caught up in reading about the girls and their twin ACL surgeries. I wouldn't wish that on anyone

I have purchased several pounds of various rock from Twin Rocks. You can't beat the one price shipping charge. In my order was 3# of Carnelian Rough and ended up throwing away at least one pound.... mostly "rind" with a little splash of Carnelian attached. I do understand that all cannot be perfect. The Unakite, Zebra and Picture Jasper were excellent!

The Unakite, Zebra and Picture Jasper were excellent! One third cull-out does seem a bit high, though. I Hope you took a few minutes to let the girls know how you felt about your order - both good and bad. I've found most small online business owners tend to be very receptive to feedback. Especially in an industry where word-of-mouth can be as important as any other kind of "advertising".

I Actually purchased their stones when they were onsale for Memorial day, its real turquoise, but 3 out of the 4 orders I put in that day where delivered short of the weight, even though they charged me full weight.

Ironically, chrysocolla, which is more rare than turquoise is misidentified more than turquoise. People tend to call basically any unidentified copper ore or mineral "chrysocolla". I have even seen malachite called "chrysocolla". Unfortunately, this is such as a common practice.
Chrysocolla though is a specific mineral, a hydrated copper silicate. And it is very soft, too soft to work without stabilization, and quite rare.
Making things more confusing is the use of the name "silicated chrysocolla", which is not chrysocolla, but rather a chalcedony stained with copper salts. Being a chalcedony, it is much harder than chrysocolla.
They do say that the turquoise is not lapidary grade, and they use the same exact pic for their chrysocolla-turquoise page. This sounds like the material is likely chalky and will need stabilization, and also makes me wonder if the pieces are really solid blue to greenish like shown in the pic.
Looking through their site, I do see some mislabeled stones such as they are listing satin spar as "selenite", and the "onyx" looks like black jasper. Real onyx is very rare and super expensive. You are not going to find it for around $6 a pound.
