I would highly recommend this bucket for field collecting rocks/rockhounding.
I originally got my first bucket like this as a present 10 years ago - before I had an interest in rouckhounding. At the time I was an avid paddler and camper, and took this bucket on many canoe trips - using to collect water, put fish in it that we caught etc. 10 years later when my family and I went rockhounding in a local creek we brought this bucket and used it to carry out 15-20 pounds of fossils and rocks. We did that a couple of times and it worked so well we bought another one. Both have held up wonderfully, and are easy to pack in because they are collapsible. I have found them to be very durable and long lasting - given the price.
