I'm sure the pictures don't come close to showing the shine and colors. That first one is wild looking!

What's your sister's number...? LOL
Those look great. Never tried rainbow obsidian myself but it's on the list!

Great cabs brother. I can only imagine what they look like in person. Clean finish on those.

Those are all beautiful. Would be hard to pick a favorite. Thanks James! I really don't have a favorite out of this batch...I like them all pretty equally well...which is unusual for me...usually there's a standout. #4, #1, #2, #3 in that order. Sweet cabs brother! Expected nothing less. Thanks brother! I know you're on the road now...maybe by the time you get back I'll have some different ones done. It's not like I don't have a lot of this material now! LOL Your sister really did you a solid. Nice work- as always! Thanks Tela! Yeah...yeah she did. I made her several wraps...and will probably need to make her several more just to try and break even! LOL Wish I had a sister like that ! I never would have guessed they were Obsidian - lots of colors.
Nice cabs BTW (as always) Thanks Patty! Well...just like with any material that relies on the reflectivity of light, I had to get the light just right to get the colors to show in the pictures. Don't get me wrong, they're great in person, but when you can fiddle around with the angle of the picture, it makes the colors pop when you get that angle right. I'm sure the pictures don't come close to showing the shine and colors. That first one is wild looking! Thanks Chad! I probably took 20+ pictures for each one of these just to try and get the shot to focus on the stone. It's fun when you're using your phone camera to try and take "glamour shots"! LOL What's your sister's number...? LOL Those look great. Never tried rainbow obsidian myself but it's on the list! Thanks Alex! Today, here number is #1! LOL I hadn't even heard about Rainbow or Velvet until my sister sent me a batch of material last summer. I couldn't work it on the slant cabber - couldn't get the scratches out. So, I didn't really care about it until I worked it on the new cabbing machine in December. Now...I'm loving every single cab! LOL The bright purple in the last one is amazing! Thanks Robin! I could tell that last one was going to be super colorful from the preform...and I actually did that one last thinking I'd saved the best for that position! LOL Gorgeous! Love the swirling clouds of awesome in that velvet! Thank you so much! "Swirling clouds of awesome"...I love that! I might use that to market these one day! LOL Great cabs brother. I can only imagine what they look like in person. Clean finish on those. Thanks brother! A little better pics than the preview pics you saw yesterday! LOL

My wife was talking with my sister-in-law early this winter when sis was out "walking" her dog. She asked my wife what I was working on. When my wife told her I was working on Coprolite (which I was) my sister offered to pick up some of Jazz's "coprolite" for me to work on since it was frozen solid! LOL - I passed on what Jazz "passed"! LOL So...I could've worked on a dog turd! LOL

Sounds like a nightmare to get a good clear un-glared photo.
Do you use a light box ??

I've tried using a light box, but it white-washes everything out every time I try.

You seem to take good photos - obviously you've figured out a system. I've always used a light box to photograph jewelry but didn't find it so good for a cab.
What's your trick ?
