Howdy, Here are just a couple more pics from my finds of last week. LIght is still not very good though. The first pic is what we call Strawberry Jasper. Bright red with little white or yellow seeds just like the fruit. Second pic is an unusual poppy jasper with bright orange poppies against a pink to lavendar background. Only found a little of this but hope to find more as it was in vein fragments and hadn't moved far because all the edges were still sharp. Thanks for lookin....Mel

Very cool, I like the strawberry ... umm no, I like the orange and purple poppy jasper but then. Oh heck, I like 'em both! What do you do with all the jasper you collect?

Cher: Those hunks that don't get claimed by my wife for her gardens, I slab and cab. I do a lot of work with the sledge hammer mining this stuff so use the fragments for tumbling. I try to get the best large cab out of each variety for my gem club display and like to switch my display around each year. Must admit though, that I love all those poppy and flowering jaspers. As if you hadn't guessed that huh?

LOL Nope, I could never have guessed. I can sure understand why though, everything you've shown is really awesome. I wish Minnesota had some nice jasper like that.

Mel-
I sure love looking at your local finds. You sure are in a nice are with some spectacular rocks. Not that I'm sick of looking at your rocks, but I'd love to see some of the scenery at your ranch. Sounds like a nice place.
