Some time ago, I had a nice Owyhee slab. The best pattern for the preform had a line going through a buckskin band. Somewhere when working on it fractured along the line. I've had a little success completing a cab that was similar, but now I'll avoid the area. I got a Biggs slab from Roy and saw only two good patterns. I trimmed them both and completed the cab on the right. I ground the preform and marked the girdle line. I then started on the dome before dopping. Right now, the line is fully healed so I am hoping that I will be able to finish it tomorrow and that it holds together. Not a vug or fracture, crossing my fingers, knocking on wood, etc.

That's some nice material. I can see why you marked that area out. I sure hope it works out for you! If it does, that's gonna be one awesome cab.

Sometimes a line is only a line.
