I'm not gonna lie...I just sent my mom a text with the link to the story. I told her there's a good chance she'd become a pendant one of these days...

Oh, I just had an interesting (or truly evil) thought...
There has been a thing going on for a few years now, where kids (and, some adults I would guess), paint stones a base color and then add something like a saying or a little picture. Do you all get where I am (or, rather, grandma) is going with this thoought...?

LazerFlash I am thinking you are suggesting creating a stone from "your loved ones ashes" that reminds you of little sayings your loved one used to tell you. Like: If you don't eat that now you get it cold for breakfast! or You better wipe that look off your face. or Shut the door, were you born in a barn? These may take larger stones than those listed. Kind of reminds me of the Star Trek episode where Harry Mudd made an android of his "wife" he could tell to shut up. That worked out so well for him:)

People lose their jewelry all the time. I know because I try to find it (and very seldom can find the owner). Imagine the heartbreak when granny falls off the finger or chain ... or the curse put on me because I melt the gold for scrap.

There's a joke in there somewhere for my MIL's ashes sitting in the LV STILL. I don't think I want her to be my pet rock and neither would DH.

Someone on a FB group was carving tiny urns for pendants. To each their own I guess...

Only not so wordy and/or maybe of a small picture that the loved one liked. The are so many options.
Kind of reminds me of the Star Trek episode where Harry Mudd made an android of his "wife" he could tell to shut up. That worked out so well for him:) LOL That was the second episode with Harry Mudd. Both are classics, but the android one is the better of the two, IMHO. In an interesting twist, my mother went to high school with the actor who portrayed Mudd. They were in the same graduating class from Erasmus High School in Brooklyn NY.

Maybe I misunderstood but they yelled at me when I tried to order a LFRB of Grandma Stone to tumble . My mom took a tumble down the hill in her yard awhile back...so she's already done half the work! (*Don't worry...If y'all knew my mom, she'd laugh at what I just wrote! LOL)

Maybe I misunderstood but they yelled at me when I tried to order a LFRB of Grandma Stone to tumble . I had to read that a couple times before I got it, lol. My late MIL's maiden name was Stone, so my husband had a real Grandma Stone. But not a grandma stone of her, lol. Thanks for the chuckle, Al.

I read an article in Outdoor Life years ago where a man's ashes were loaded into shotgun shells (along with the pellets) and given to his buddies to duck hunt their swamp. Sounded kinda strange to me, but to each their own.

Actually not too much different then being a sailor and sprinkling your ashes on the ocean. Same principal I suppose. Patty.... glad she's a sailor NOT a duck hunter as it sounds a lot better being sprinkled then being shot !

My wife's parents' ashes were mixed into concrete to create something called, "Reef Balls". They are semi-hemispherical 'domes' that are sunk out in the Atlantic Ocean to create artificial reefs. They were both avid fisher-people. (Well, my mother-in-law was; my father-in-law went along with her because he loved being with her. )
