This is the most important of the rocks I have found so far, at least to me. I have spent hours trying to ID the various components, and have no confidence at all in my guesses... This is from around our place in the mountains. Quite a bit of the rock up there is green, all different types, but alot of it green and a good portion of that has pink or purple with it. Please have a look at this, it is so pretty, I'm not sure it will tumble but I am intrigued with it. It's green with some white/clear places and alot of purple as well. The green is not showing up to well in the photo, but you can see little pockets (crystals?) of solid green, especially in the center of the rock on the right, and center of of the one on the left. I will try to get better photos, but I've really worked to try to get this one figured out and am hoping someone here can help: One cool thing we found that I think I did ID correctly was this satin spar (gypsum) that's grown in between layers of really sandy sandstone. Very fragile, not tumble-able but thought it was interesting: Oh, and here's one other photo that has nothing at all to do with rocks but we find them entertaining anyway: We have identified them as Labradoris Loungerish, male on the left is Yeti, female on right is Maggie. Imagine how much room they take up on our bed every night... Thanks to all who offer opinions on my pics, we are completely beginners and need all the help we can get.

Looks almost like a brecciated jasper. Have found similar material near Parkfield , Calif. Can't see much of the broken spot. Does the material look like it was once broken apart and then resealed with silica?

Thanks for replying Sabre, the other two sets of photos are from below San Marcos Pass above Santa Barbara. This special one is from the "big bend" area of the San Andreas fault west of Frazier Park. I have seen some definitely brecciated stuff there, it's been purplish gray with white material broken up in it. This doesn't seem that way. I think it's not jasper, not as dense aand textured different, wish photos were better. I found a whole slide of what looks like maybe green schist up there. And quite a bit of green material with reddish/purple splotches through it, kind of like rubies in zoisite, but so far no good sized crystals of the purple stuff. My comments are coming from a place of almost complete ignorance, and we are finding out just how complicated this endeavor can be... Sure appreciate your expertise, and everyone elses

Wish I could help but your rocks look nothing like mine. Yours look real interesting. Could you post some photos of the area you are collecting from, sorta put the rocks in context... Not that I'll be able to help then either but it would be fun to see the pics. joe Labradoris Loungerish- oy vey!
