I was able to squeeze some material out of realrockhound and have been having a blast. Big thanks going out to him. Batcave Jasper on the first pic and the rest are the Shumway Sagenite Agate. (I know...thanks Captain Obvious! LOL) I thought I'd get a couple macro shots of the red sagenite...which looks more orange closeup. Thanks for taking a gander!

That agate is amazing - the tubes are pretty cool. Good job :-) Thanks Patty! I was pretty stoked when I saw the rough...and I'm more than stoked how this one turned out. Wow, very cool. Love the macro shots. Thanks Diane! My eyes got REAL wide when I first zoomed in on those sagenites! I wasn't expecting to see the "tubular" structure like in that second shot. Oooooo..... Love them both, but that sagenite is pretty spectacular. Thanks Tela! I think that Batcave is "kinda" cool because it's Batcave...but it would've been really cool with more pattern to it. It was a small triangle that broke (sheared) off the slab, so there was really no option for any other pattern, shape, or size.

Beautiful cabs, Jason! Those macros are pretty cool. The shape of the Batcave is perfect for that pattern and the sagenite is just

Now that I think about it, kind of a sad and funny story about the shumway sagenite. The area that it’s found is now a massive gated community with a golf course and multi-million dollar homes. So digging/collecting is pretty much impossible at this point. I heard they uncovered a thunderegg bed out there too when they were digging foundations for buildings.

Beautiful! The macros in the sagenite are spectacular and the pattern in the bat cave couldn't match better the shape of the cab.

I'd love to be able to take credit for the pattern in the Batcave, but it was the only shape and pattern available with that broken piece. I'll admit, I've come back to look at those sagenite macros several times! LOL

Man, I do believe that is one of the most highly silicated sagenites I've ever seen. Always frustrating to cut into sagenite and find lots of tiny pits where the acicular structures hit the cab surface. Your shine looks incredible.

Always frustrating to cut into sagenite and find lots of tiny pits where the acicular structures hit the cab surface. Your shine looks incredible. Thanks Mel! Their were a couple super tiny spots where the structures peeked through the surface...but I mean really tiny! I was super stoked about that! This is definitely my favorite Sagenite Agate I've worked so far! Stunning sagenite and a fine finish. Wow Thanks James! Yeah...it's one of those materials you wish you had another couple hundred pounds of...! Beautiful cabs Jason. The batcave is really spectacular. I really do love that material! Thanks Nate! I've got some more Batcave sitting in the wings. It looks like the patterns coming out of the next ones I do might be some killer patterns. Waiting on a new (thinner) trim saw blade before I cut the preforms.

Mmm.. them needle sprays are fandiddlytastic! Thanks Brian! The rough was a "seam" type agate...and the sagenites were from edge to edge...just jammed into every square millimeter of this stuff!
