And anyone else who wants a peek. Here's some of your Missouri Lace slabbed up. I just love this first piece!! I tried a couple of the smaller pieces, ones that I didn't have to do too much with for them to fit the blade. The first one (with most the red) was pretty hard and has beautiful banding all the way through. Here's the first cut ... All done ... Close-up ... there were softer spots that crumbled in there, seemed like the whiter parts or more toward the center of the banding got softer. Here's the next one I tried, sorry for the blur in the first pic. This one just kept crumbling but was getting a little harder near the center. There were some hard parts throughout, but it's soft in between so they just kept breaking apart as I was cutting. Those bigger chunks are going to take awhile, going to have to break 'em down. So what'cha think?? Isnt' that first one awesome?

Hi Rainey, I got these from Puppie, she lives in Missouri.
Nah KD, I'm really not interested into getting a grinder. I'm so happy with the saw and being able to cut pieces into nicer shapes for wrapping. Long as I can tumble them to get a shine I will be happy.

Wow, those first ones look way awesome! I think I know which rock the second one is -- If I'm right, it is one of the brownish ones with veins of white and patches throughout. That stuff has tumbled very well for me, so even if you don't get good slabs, it will probably be okay tumbling rock. Thanks!

Hi Cher. My question is.. what do you hold the rock with while cutting? I have tried to cut some slabs, but my rocks move around, sometimes climbing up the saw blade. How do you cut them so clean?? Thanks for the help. Your slabs are beautifull!!

Tonja- if the rock "rides the blade" your working to fast! Slow down a bit (I know it is hard on the hands) and that will help- I actually use the "blade ride" to cut larger stuff- Just let it get up on the blade and then apply slight downward pressure- let the blade nibble through it- then take another push- smaller rocks don't tend to ride up as much.

Tonja, Basically, I hold the rocks with my thumbs and first two fingers, gently pushing with my thumbs and using my fingers on the sides to keep it in line. I've trimmed my fingernails a few times when I got down to smaller pieces but it was worth it.

Ok I'll give that a try. I thought I was going really slow, but maybe I get to eager. LOL Does making the rock square help to hold it in place also? Thanks for the input!! I know I need a sheild, I get soaked everytime. But hey, it keeps ya cool!

Tonja, go to walnut or k-mart to the photo section. I got some of that reuseable green tacky putty stuff and stuck an 8 x 10 acrylic photo holder to the front of my saw, works great. Not too big to reach around, angles toward the blade, and unless you lift the guard too high, it keeps all the water off of you. The tacky stuff lets you remove it to clean around and under it.
I don't worry about making it square unless it's quite a bit bigger than what will fit, then I try to trim off sides a little. Don't push hard, you can't force it, just keep continuous pressure on it.
