Great work as always. 1 and 4 are my favorite. I particularly like the colors in 4. The slight blue tones in the agate looks great to me.
Funny story about this particular material. It was dug by me, my dad and grandfather back in 95-96. My grandfather knowing the area when it was dug with cats, set back out off the hillside and started digging, knowing there was material down below. We camped up top for days and started digging in the early mornings and late evenings. This was found in a big vein going straight down for lord knows how deep. We were pulling out chunks the size of bread loafs. So accordingly, we always referred to this moss as the bread loaf material. We filled that hole back in. So whoever has the determination to go find it and dig that deep, there is more of it just waiting to be had.

You know, these slabs were so jammed with moss, but there were areas where the moss was thinned out a little. The thinned out areas appear to be where the "better" cabs are coming from...similar to what we were talking about with Plume Agates. Sometimes the more remarkable cabs come where there is enough agate surrounding (or framing) the plume or moss. I do think that "blue" is less blue in person... Those are awesome Jason! I think the last is my favorite. That druzy pocket looks amazing. I blew apart the last one I tried to do a druzy onm Thanks Perk! I stayed away from druzy areas when I first started...but now, if they can be, I try to incorporate them into the cab. It really depends on the stability of the druzy as to how "aggressive" I can get working the cab...

I love some moss and this is some really nice looking material that you did justice to. Thanks Tela! It's one of those material you just WANT to come out perfect...but those "micro-pits" are in some places on the surface...so it's just shy of that "perfect" surface finish I'm looking for. That's not a complaint about the material...it's just one of those things that happens with moss a lot of times. realrockhound - I almost titled the thread "Bread Loaf Agate"! LOL

Love that nice "open" moss. Most of what we have has the more dense concentrations of moss.
Little micro-vugs like that are usually a sign of good material. Plain ol' open pores and pits not so much - but if it't crystalline it's a different story.

#1 and 4 are my favorites, too. Beautiful material and beautiful cabs made out of it. I have no problems with tiny crystal pits. They shine when the sun hits them!

Thanks Vince! There were a couple of decent sized spots on the slabs that had that "open" area. Those were the first of the stencils to get placed! The "visible" vugs you can see in the pics totally give the cabs character...and can really add something to the cab. There are some "micro-pits" that aren't showing up in the pics...and are barely visible to the naked eye...but they're there. #1 and 4 are my favorites, too. Beautiful material and beautiful cabs made out of it. I have no problems with tiny crystal pits. They shine when the sun hits them! Thanks Robin! The crystalline vugs you can see in pics 3 and 5 (the obvious one! LOL), are the "good kind" for sure!

Classic Maury Mtn and beautiful cabs. Again Jason, what a friggin great polish! Thanks Mel!! I do have some more of this material that I'd love to be working...but I've got a handful of some pretty cool stuff coming up - hopefully later this week if the weather will cooperate enough to let me on my saws! LOL - I've got one material in particular that I'm dying to get some more cabs done so I can post them and tag you. I'm really curious to know if you've seen anything like it.

I recall Woody Woodsides, who used to be a regular here, did a thread somewhere about digging up there. He pulled out some pretty fantastic material, as I recall. Didn't share his exact dig site, of course. We have so much from estates that I have no need to dig there, but his scenery photos from his trip definitely compel me to visit. jasoninsd you definitely did it justice, and the micro drusy pockets are definitely there.

I’ll share a little secret about that place. If you have the determination to dig deep enough, you’ll hit material. I know a place out there that’s not near the main beds, where they dug that isn’t well known. There are massive boulders that got rolled off down the hillside into a draw. You couldn’t get them with a truck, but a Polaris ranger could get down there and get them out one by one.
