I cut a rock I picked up when I purchased my saw from catmandewe last summer. What are your thoughts on the material and quality? My questions are somewhat naive: Is it cab-able? I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder, how does this strike you? Honestly, I'm on the fence, and falling towards the "not my fave" side. Would like to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I think, like most slabs, some is cabbable and some isn't. I do see a few cabs in there. I have had slabs where I only got one good cab. Sometimes, that's just the way it is.

Some nice plumes in there, and some nice fractures. I would "lightly" drop the slab on a hard surface and see what it does. I think you will find some very "cab worthy" stuff, and some tumbler food. That's just how it goes.

rockjunquie and stefan thanks y'all. I appreciate your weighing in. I'm accustomed to cutting and making pendants out of the material I find and dig. Note I said pendants not cabs at this point. When I cut something I purchase or am given I'm always interested in opinions on the quality for cabbing (as at some point I may sell some of it - I have way too much of everything). Also, I can add to the ID page, but if you know what this is lmk. Thank you!

Hey JR! My best guess is Graveyard Point Plume Agate...but I could be wrong. LOL - Tela nailed it. There are some places on those slabs that would make some nice cabs...as I look at the slabs, there might only be a couple "really good cabs" available on each slab...but there definitely are some nice spots! Bottom line, know you're going to be picky and don't be apprehensive about culling a good portion of each slab...

I will take the plunge and do some trimming to get to good stuff. You're right on that approach of course. At some point I'm going to dive back into it, it's been cold in the garage so have been procrastinating.
