I was going through my photobucket account today and noticed some recent pics that I never got around to posting because they didn't really seem to fit with anything. So I'll just post them in this thread as kind of a jumble. Amethyst and rose quartz -- these got a bit beat up because they were tumbled with a 1/2# piece of petwood, so a few pieces broke, but overall they didn't turn out too bad. To counter the fact that I had a really big piece in the barrel, I used some Botswana "chips" to make up the small side of the load. They are tiny as you can see in the first pic with the quarter, but up close (following pic) they are kind of pretty. This is stromatolite fossil. It's the same stuff as Mary Ellen Jasper, just without the nice colours ;D. It took a nice shine but I don't think that shows in the pic. I've got a bit more, so I'll try to get better pix when I get it all tumbled. This is some remaining odds and ends. The two stones on the top are petwood -- the one on the right is local stuff, and the more colourful one on the left I'm not sure where it came from (mixed batch bought on ebay). I've got a some more pieces on the go, but it's really tough stuff so will be awhile. And this 1.5# chunk (photo taken dry) I'll probably bust up in the spring and make it a project for next year. Thanks for looking!

Oh man, that oj is gorgeous! What happened to the 1/2 pound chunk of pet wood you mentioned by the first pic? I don't think those agate chips are too small, looks to me like there's some really pretty ones in there that would make nice pendants and what not.

Great looking batch rollingstone! I like the Botswawna's even though they're small, and the Amethyst / Quartz mix
Well done!

Wow! That Stromatolite fossil rock is awesome! So uniform & free of flaws. The Muir fossil bed here is all unmetamorphosed sedimentary so no hope of tumbling it. If you got a good one it could be dry slabbed but I doubt anything would stay together enough to shine up.
