Diet Cola...Sodalite...get it?? LOL Here's some Sodalite I picked up from The Rock Shed awhile back. You can tell these came from two different pieces of rough. The solid dark blue cab came from a nice "looking" piece of rough. However, most of the slabs sheared...not fractured in a nice way, but sheared...so most of the slabs weren't usable. However, the pieces I could salvage produce some really deep dark blue cabs. The gray/light gray that runs through the material does tend to undercut ever so slightly...but that solid blue one has no undercutting. The white around the perimeter of that last one isn't the girdle line...it's the reflection on the dome of the Silver Lace Onyx that's underneath. As always, thanks for taking a gander.      |

Those are all beauties! Love the deep blue colors. Thank you so much! Yeah...I showed my wife last night and I wasn't sure she was going to give it back! LOL Looking good, Jason. I have a fondness for the white marbling against that dramatic blue. Sorry it was problematic for you. Thanks Tela! I actually like the marbling too...and it's not really the white that undercuts as the gray/light gray areas that do the damage. I'll correct my original post on that. If I could find some rough that was all blue and white with no gray, I'd probably snatch it all up! LOL |

LOL He did have a UV flashlight, but it's not very strong. However, the Sodalite DID actually fluoresce! Unfortunately, my phone wouldn't capture a picture of it...it just washed out the fluorescence. |

jasoninsd those are some beeeootifull cabs! I love the shapes. Sodalite is a really neat stone. I've only cut one cab from it myself, and need to rework it.

Thanks Perk! 50% were NOT teardrops...so odds are getting better! LOL - Yeah...I really like this material as well. The first time I worked it, it was a lot softer than I thought it was going to be. I actually do the initial "45 degree" grind on my 80 grit...but I leave at least 1.0-0.5mm from the final grind depth. Then I move over to the 220 hard and finish shaping. Reason being, this stuff chips very easily, I so don't want to get all the way down on that initial grind on the 80 grit. |

I actually have a 220 hard in the assembly now so that'll be helpful. Mine chipped a little on the back because I freeformed it from the stone and got it sorta flat on the 80 hard soo... |

Mod pizza is basically a place where you get a personal pizza and get to decide what sauces, toppings, spices, ect. you want on your pizza. They bake it in a big pizza oven right in front of you too! I'm like 13 percent Italian according to ancestry so I have a good taste in pizza lol! I swear I went to a Marco's pizza down in San Diego! Have you ever heard of a "poor me" day? Well if you have, I've had what one might call an "I'm awesome" day where I celebrated myself by making me happy! Hehe. Bacon wrapped sirloins sounds awesome! Anyways, I think I've done a good enough job of hijacking the thread so I'll quit talking so dang much... |
