Those are amazing Jason! That serape looks just like some stuff up at my favorite hounding spot! I think my favorites are the Maury moss agates. Those are amazing and kind of remind me of graveyard point which is growing on me...

Prior to this batch of Maury, I had only worked one other piece (that I remember), and that was quite awhile ago. It really is pretty material. Very nice, Jason! My favorite out of this batch is the Serape. Thanks Robin! Yeah...I think that Serape is my fave out of this batch too.

Another here for the Serape Jasper being the favorite of the bunch! But all are very nice!
The black Millefiori glass looks so cool when backlit.
Great job on all of them!

I should have done a backlit shot on the glass...I will next time...I have a couple decent sized chunks (well...relatively speaking LOL) of the blue and black. I LOVE the first Millefiore. Very nice! All are great, though- esp the first one. Thanks Tela! I don't know why, but I've liked Millefiore ever since I first saw it...maybe because it's a tad "whimsical"...kinda like me! LOL Those are all great. Not gonna pick a favorite and ya can't make me :-P Thanks Diane! LOL...I didn't really "want" to have a favorite...but that Serape kinda snuck in the top spot...followed closely by the glass.

Isn't that glass cool? It wasn't until I got a couple chunks of it that I think I figured out how it's made in order to produce the flowers. Near as I can tell, small tubes of colored glass are laid lengthwise into a rectangular mold. The colors are alternated to create the design. Once the mold is filled, it's put back in the oven to melt the tubes together into the block. It looks like distortion to the design happens along the edges due to the mold where it was getting too hot...kind of like a lasagna that always bakes too much along the edges of the pan. That's all speculation on my part...but it makes sense. LOL

I'm with Drocknut. Can't pick just one, although that moss is pretty amazing. Of course as usual, your workmanship really brought out the best. Nice shine too!

I'm with Drocknut. Can't pick just one, although that moss is pretty amazing. Of course as usual, your workmanship really brought out the best. Nice shine too! Thank you so much! I had six other Morgan Hill Poppy Jaspers dopped up. Did the initial grind on all of them...and promptly stopped. Each one of those had ugly fractures, or none of the poppies really came through and the looked boring. They just didn't seem like they were worth the time to finish. That's a HUGE step for me. I hate "wasting" material...but if it looks like crap to me, it's probably going to look like crap to someone else...so I figure there's no point in spending the time working on something no one's going to want...
