Before I cut the bots and Gambiri agates, I peened my 8” saw blade. I was pretty surprised how much faster the blade cut the agates.
I took the blade only to my big vice. I put the bottom of the blade on the flat part of the vice. I used a hardened bastard cut file to peen the edge of the blade. I would say I hit the blade about 5 times per inch of blade.
not hard hits. Just enough to slightly deform the edge. I think it mostly just widened the kerf a tiny bit.
the blade cut much faster.

Thanks for the reminder on this Brent! I've got a 7" blade that this would definitely benefit.

jasoninsdWe went on a 4,000 mile drive vacation. I saw a lot of washes and river beds I wanted to hound. The most tempting was the Yellowstone river west of Billings. Are you still up for hounding that river?

Are you still up for hounding that river? I absolutely am!! I really do think that'd be a fun trip. I haven't told Brenda yet...but I'm going to take another overnight rafting trip on the Cheyenne here once it warms up enough during the nighttime hours. I need some more "writing material"! LOL - I'm going to make sure it's during a full moon time of the month, rather than a new moon...that way I can at least SEE what's attacking me! LOL

Good to know it actually works! Wonder if this one's too far gone?

I've done this with quite a few blades, tile saw blades also, and it works well. I probably tap the blade about 10 times per inch.
