These last 30 days have been a bit of a whirlwind around here. Right before T-giving, I got a lateral promotion that got me off the night shift. Then for the holiday, we went to my father-in-law's place out in the hill country where I saw more stars in one night than I've seen in the last 10 years here in Houston. I also got to go rock and fossil hunting. Then yesterday, I went to the lock rock shop to use the gift certificate my wife gave me for my birthday. Used some of it for grit and polish, but picked up about 20 lbs of different stuff. And here some of it is: Carnelian. I keep seeing everybody's pics and decided I had to get some at last. Starburst, from Mexico. I had seen someone else's polished starburst and loved the fireworks/flowers. Plume agate, from Utah. Very excited about this stuff. Finally, what they had labeled as "conglomerate agate." Pretty neat looking stuff. I also picked up some small geodes for the kids and a few pounds of mahogany obsidian with great flow patterns. The pictures did not turn out on that, though. Yeah, I'm pretty much set for winter. matt

Wow! Nice rough. That carnelian looks reall intense and I can't wait to se the Utah Plume polished. It looks like it will have really nice patterns along with intense colors! The red and grey-green material is what we call Cherry Orchard Agate, from Africa..mel

Mel,
I had thought it might be that, having recalled seeing someone else's pix of it. They only call it conglomerate agate from africa. It doesn't show so much in the pictures, but most of what isn't red is a deep green. I'm looking forward to rolling it.
Thanks for your help with the ID.
