Need more beer. ;D I got bored and my wife was bored a couple weeks ago so she did some research and ordered wire and tools and a "how to" book. Funny, she figured it out on her own, I've never even mentioned wire wrap before. Anyhow, my first humble attempt......

You're too kind darlin I actually was surprized that it looked like a wire wrap when I was done. I got the steps down, now I just need to do a couple more. I'll probably give it another try tomorrow, plenty of Botswana left! ;D

Most excellent Randy! That's the first?! The first first? I think you have the knack for it. What kind of wire did you use?

Thanks for the cool comments y'all!! LOL pebbles, you just gave me a good start for Sunday morning. ;D Yes, that was my very first attempt. I read the book a couple times but the biggest thing that helped was looking at pics of the stuff that y'all have done on here. The wire is brass, didn't want to use "the good stuff" on the first go-around. As soon as I feel that I'm ready, I'll go with the gold-filled wire next (read that in another post). The tools, wire, and book came from Bernies lapidary supplies, this guy must have over a hundred web pages of supplies! The book that I have is "Contemporary Wire Wapped Jewelry", it shows everything step by step. bernieslapidary.com

Great wire wrap Randy I did 3 wire wraps that turned out ok. I didn't wrap for about a month or 2 afterwards, and now, no matter how hard I try, I just can't tie everything together and make a bail.

Wire wrapping is not difficult. Let the wire speak to you, Grasshoppa. Randy, when you're ready for buying "The good wire" try square wire for the wrap (it's easier to work with and you can twist it for interesting texture) and 1/2 round for the bindings. Keep your bundles of wire together with tape while you bind. I get my wire from Rio Grande 'cuz it's local. But Doc, who lives in Floriduh, gets his wire there because it's consistantly good wire. Like Doc says, DON'T USE DEAD SOFT WIRE! I use half-hard, but hard wire lasts longer. www.riogrande.com/ Gold prices are going up... Alice, I make my bails by wrapping the wires around something round. I use the round end of my file but you can use a crochet hook, or a toothpick if you want a small bail. I love wire wrapping but lately I haven't found enough time in the day to do any. Nice first attempt Randy. You got the basics down. S
