Trying to refurb some equipment I recently picked up - 4" Beacon Star slab saw, a 3 wheel Lortone Beaver arbor, and a 2 wheel Poly Wheel arbor.
I believe the saw to be a 4" and supposed to use a Dayton 1/3 hp motor, which I haven't been able to source yet. There is a motor on the Poly Wheel but it's not really something I'd feel comfortable using as is. It's pretty rough looking and has basically no information on it. The Beaver unit came with nothing. I read somewhere online that 3/4 HP 1725 RPM motor would work for that. Correct?
Anyone have any information or suggestions on where I can source motors inexpensively? Something from Acklands or Princess Auto - the Canadian Harbor Freight - is my best resource right now.

A 4" saw will easily run from a 1/4 HP motor, mine is a dirct drive motor that based on amps is more like 1/10 HP. The Poly Arbor is also probably fine with a 1/4 HP motor, about the only way it would need more is if you run heavy 8" solid steel diamond wheels. I would use a 1/3 or 1/2 HP with the Beaver arbor, I think the 1/2 HP costs less. I have been getting new motors on Amazon mostly, no idea how that works in Canada.
