WOW! I love the color variations in that piece! And this probably isn't the right way to word it...but I like how the breccia almost looks "muddled"...as in the edges of the two material don't appear to be as "sharp" as it is in other brecciated material. I really like that!

That doesn't even look real. The closeups look like a beautiful water color painting!

Unfortunately the stone was too big for the largest saw at the shop. So the saw did not even cut all the way through on the first pass. So, I did not try to cut any slabs off of it.

How cool. I'll be passing through that way in a couple days, sadly all I'll probably stop for is the nailblock/bullseye site at Gemfield, or if there's anything easy to find around Beatty.

You are not going to find much around Beatty. Almost everything up there has been taken over by the mining companies. The only place I know of that is not is that big mine up on the hill by the pond just South of Beatty has some nice phyllite pieces all over the ground.
What direction are you going and from where to where? I can send you a message with some places to look.

Going North up 95. Headed to Oregon but only looking to drive about 4 hours a day so we have time to stop. Beatty, Yerington, and probably McDermitt will be our overnights.
