Took quite a while and there's definitely some flaws but they came out a lot better than I expected. I have stumpy fingers and arthritis! These are my first, second and third attempts. Of course the first two are groove wraps. The first one looks like the wire in the groove is a little proud up at the very top left hand side. The stone actually chipped. Probably when I was cutting the groove.

Thanks! I learned a lot from all three. All locally found material, though the last one was found in a customers yard during an AC service call.

You did great on your first ones! It just gets easier from here.

Nice job on those RB! I've chipped a few cabs when trying to groove wrap. I know my issue was the girdle wasn't thick enough and the wire "tweaked" the weak part of the rock (right where yours chipped) when I was working the wire up by the bail. I found that ANY amount of sideways stress while working the wire will chip the cab up by the bail...

Well dang! Look at you go! Very nice first efforts. I love the last one (poppy jasper- probably Hornitos). Super nice gravel find. Your wrap does it justice. You could hang onto that and redo it in silver for a high price piece. But, I would keep it as an example of your first true wire wrap. Really great first effort.

ashley I did make a half-hearted attempt a year so ago. I don't even think I've got 10% finished when I gave up in disgust.
rockjunquie Even better than a gravel find. It was a nice big chunk. I had posted on here somewhere about it before. She had rocks lined up along the edge of her flower bed and this was one of them. I also got another rock from her. She told me to take whatever I wanted. I told her it was a piece of poppy. Jasper and it was pretty rare, valuable and sought after. She said take what you want. I just don't want it to get thrown away!
