I buy a lot of rocks for tumbling or cabbing./ slabbing. Ebay and private sites. I’ve had mostly positive results. Know you seller is my only advice. @blockhead I can’t say I’ve made any money but they’re definitely cooler when I’m done with them.
i can’t find enough by myself to feed my tumblers. I’m blessed with quite a few tumblers.

Is there a support group for rockaholics? I am a rockaholic, I pledge to do my best to make every rock I tumble pretty and shiny. If I fall off the bucket I'll just pick myself up and try again.
I also don’t buy. Mostly. i bought some pretty Sodalite. but that’s it so far. Lake Erie beach stones are my jam. and today was an EXCELLENT day for rocks!!

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
I'm known as the "rock humane society" lol! I collect what I can but buy some rocks if they catch my eye for cabbing, tumbling, or feeding my ferocious vibe lap. (I swear it was stalking me while I was cabbing! )
Occasionally we find rocks doing something else, but usually it's a planned hounding trip, and likely to cost more than just buying them. Especially with current gas prices.

Rocks are cheap and I buy misc ones from many sources to ship to my office. I'm on 2nd floor at top of stairway. FedEx and UPS and USPS staff all know me and sometimes I can hardly look them in the eye out of guilt. Have grit when shipped to to my home. Have never yet had 50lb box fall prey to porch pirates.
rockpickerforever: What would happen if space collapses? I'd say we would never know, because it would happen so quickly, our slow brains would not even begin to register it. POOF!!!

mohs: The best solution would be for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to build an aqueduct from the Old River Control Structure on the Mississippi to Lake Powell, fill it, and then send more water from there down the Colorado to fill lake Mead.

vegasjames: They keep blaming the drought here when really a big part of the problem is all the uncontrolled building. The use enormous amounts of water to keep dust down when demolishing old buildings, then even more goes in to all the concrete and cement.

vegasjames: Yet, now they want to build yet another stadium just after building several others. Then there are all the man-made lakes for the rich, the massive fountains etc. Lake Mead is dropping at around 8 inches a day and the lake is only averaging just over 200

vegasjames: feet right now. I calculated it out and at this rate, Lake Mead can be dry within a year. And they still want to keep building.

mohs: I agree. Dry water is coming. The only other solution is all these people go back somewhere wet. Bye
