I ground/shaped the rough on my cabbing machine before putting them in the vibe to finish. That ability is something I need to work towards. Not sure if I'm into cabbing myself, but having a convenient/quick way to grind spots would be really powerful. This clearly shows in these stones. They turned out really really good. I have the tile saw and the masonry disk for the angle grinder, but they're both an ordeal to get setup, and frankly that angle grinder is not the safest thing to use, especially on small pieces. I need a flat lap or something right next to the bench when I'm sorting through the coarse clean out. Tangent aside... The material is awesome and your finish is excellent. Thanks for the show!

I swear that stuff is made where dragon eggs hatch Thanks for showing us the B side, just as gorgeous Thanks Chad! You know, there is material called Dragon Blood Jasper...it's cool...but not as cool as this material! LOL Those looks great! Love the colors! Thanks Ashley! I love that the material looks "black" until the light catches just right. When I've shown it to other family members and they turn it just right in the light and say, "Whoa!" it makes it all worth it! So pretty. Great shine, too. Thanks Beth! I wish I could say they're "perfect"...but there are some with some flaws. A couple had some small fractures that I couldn't grind past without losing the whole rock. They're still gorgeous...but with a slight blemish. Thank you so much! Truly a couple hours on the grinding wheel saved WEEKS (I'm sure) in the tumbler. I did use the tile saw on a couple of the ones that it made sense to cut rather than grind...but I also use the side of the saw blade to "grind" down areas on stones as well... Thanks James!!

The first time I saw this material was when my sister sent me a MFRB last summer. I had no clue how to work it...but I've started to figure it out a little. They're beautiful. They would be gorgeous in a display bowl! Thanks Robin! They ended up dispersed in my "good tumbles" dish...but I think I want them in their own dish...

The visual impact of moving all those beauties around in a bowl would be awesome.

My gosh jasoninsd, that is awesome! Those are some of the most amazing stones I've ever seen. Where... Did... You... Get... Them...!?? (Shaking by shoulders ) Way to work some tumbling magic on them (it didn't have anything to do with magic dust, did it?) . I can't tumble obsidian well.

LOL) I really have a special place in my heart for this material! It's so stunning to me! I actually got it from my sister (bless her heart!). She sent me some last year...then sent me a bunch more a couple months ago. I have enough to last me for quite awhile...although I won't be tumbling any more. The rest will be made into cabs. This was my first attempt at tumbling obsidian...I'm glad to did the pre-grinding/shaping on the wheels!

(Formality isn't my thing, unless I'm in a suit!) I've cabbed and tumbled some scraps of gold sheen and obsidians are amazing. My brother gave me some agates and jaspers! Oh wait, this isn't a bragging competition... I'm looking forward to the cabs. If you ever run out of space to put them, just let me know and I'll safely dispose of it.

I don't know why...but for some reason a lot of people I've encountered in life must've thought my name was Richard... LOL I found out what this material costs...and there's NO way I would have paid for it...so I was extremely lucky my sister liked me the week she was wanting to spend money! LOL
