I've started to do a little wrapping. We have some wire but most is not appropriate. I ordered wire the other day after looking at a guide on here. I got square, round and half round. Most of what I got is half hard as was suggested from a guide here. Most of what I see called for now that I'm looking at instruction is dead soft. I did a couple where the main body of the wrap is dead soft. Now I switched and did one with HH which was much more difficult to shape around the stone and manipulate. I'm thinking about ordering some more dead soft. So what is mostly used? I figured HH would hold up a little better but maybe it doesn't make much difference.

HH is typically used for border wrapping. It is more difficult to use for free form swirls and curls. It is harder and therefor more difficult to use, but it is something you will have to get used to. It is totally doable. If you want to try it, you can twist round soft wire to make it about HH. That will be easier to work and still be a good stiffness for a wrap. You can use soft, too, but it doesn't hold its shape as well and you can't get really sharp bends with it without a lot of work.

Thanks, rockjunquie that's helpful. I'll continue on with the HH for frames. I definitely need to get some lighter gauge dead soft for weaving.
