Does anyone know what stone would be appropriate for a physician still in practice. I would like to make a finished cab for a physician who tends to my ailes and is a very nice person to boot. I just don't know what stone would be appropriate for someone who heals others. Most stones seem to be for the person who owns them and what they are attempting to reinforce. If you have any idea what stone I should be looking for, please let me know.
Thanks
Jim

I don't think there's a right or wrong stone...so, I'd go with one that "means" something to you...and when you give it to the doc, you can share the reason why it means something to you. I think that'll make it "mean" more to them...

How about a kidney shaped stone or fossil bone. Or you could cab fossil dino bone into the shape of a kidney.

Well you did not say what type of Dr. For a proctologist you might cut them a coprolite cab For a Orthopedic Dr the dinobone RickB suggested would be great an Opthamologists might like an "eye agate" a Pediatricians might like a fossil dino egg Cardiologists might like bloodstone a gastroenterologist might like a gizzard stone a Psychiatrists might like "Crazy Lace Agate" cab These are only some suggestions but I am sure there are some here who could add to this list.

Coprolite. No question about it. Yep. That would doo it.

I gave my nephrologist an agate slice that had a kidney profile visible in it. It was drilled for a window hanger/sun catcher. My general medicine guy got several bola ties because he wore them on an everyday basis. But I agree with Jason, give something that you like and hope that the receiver will like it enough to look at it or show it to others. I like to joke with my regular doc here in New Mexico that he had folks who tried to pay him with chickens, and other that tried to pay with green chile, but I probably was the first to try to cover the bill with rocks.

I have a polished fossil vertebra bone. I once took it in to the chiropractor with me. Doc: How are you feeling? Me: Like I have a vertebra in my pocket...

If your doc has a specialty or area of special study you might pursue whatever stone is said to help in that area. Personally I don't believe in all that and would attempt to pry their favorite color out of them.

Hi Jim, something that was once living (or being eaten) like dino bone or poo would have an interesting story to attach to it as you give it to them. To get any deeper than that we could use a little more information - like is the Dr. male or female? Are we talking about just giving them a stone to walk around with or put on display or a finished piece of jewelry? If they are into healing crystals and such maybe look for a slab from which you can cut a cabochon with a druzy pocket - again pick somthing that has a good conversation when presenting it.
