jasoninsdThank you Jason! They were really excited, if you look close enough you can see just how excited, notice all the finger prints lol.I think the green triangle aventurine would make a cool necklace. Maybe I’ll save that one for when I get around to trying my hand at wire wrapping. I get pretty inspiring to give it a go when I see your work, your very talented at wrapping!

I'll be watching to see your wire-wrapping (when the time comes)! I'd like to see more people post some stuff they've been doing (or have done). - Speaking of which...I have a batch that needs to have their Liver of Sulphur bath so I can get them posted! LOL *Fingerprints....the bane of macro stone photography! LOL

Those came out gneiss glad you took the extra steps To stoke the kids
I’m not tumbler Buute from what I read Nation Geo Need to bump up their game People got disappointing results And it geared towards kids That can be a bad start to a great hobby
Not sure what they can do ?
Tumbling is a long arduous process Mosiy

Thanks mohs it is disappointing. They should make the instructions different and not rush it. That would probably help.

Great results, congratulations! The National Geographic Pro tumbler is actually quite good, but the quality of the grit is what lets people down. The main culprits are the "final" polish grit, which is too coarse to give you any kind of shine, and the rotating speed, which even at the lowest speed is too fast for fragile stones.
I find the quality of the barrel and lid of the National Geogrphic tumbler is actually better than my Lortone 33B barrels. Unfortunately, the Nat Geo barrel doesn't fit on my Lortone tumbler because its diameter is too big and it just sits on the frame above the rollers. I could probably modify the frame to make it fit :-)
I tend to use the Nat Geo for stages 1 and 2, and then the other stages go in the slower/rotating Lortone.

ashley, if you hover over "mohs", it will reveal his real name, @edxxmost. I had to add the XX so it wouldn't revert to his avatar name. Many RTHlings have the same name forever, other RTHlings change frequently. The actual name is found by hoving over the one you see. Good luck! I'm not a tumbler, but you have a superb batch!

I figured the time for the 1st stage should be a bit longer too but not real sure. I really like the Nat Geo tumbler for rough. Will use it for the 60/90 SC then switch to the Lot O. I’m to impatient to go rotary the whole process.

Nice job! Those came out really nice and not just "for a first batch". I'm really impressed with the shine you ended up with.

Thank you hummingbirdstones ! hope my next batch isn’t a dud lol! I have a batch of chert running in 120/220 SC. It ran for 2 days and looked ok, but I put it back in again for a few more days. I’ll post that in a week or so when it’s done, it’s stuff we found locally (Illinois) and up in Wisconsin.

Y'all did a fine job! I'm impressed with the rough that came with it. It isn't usually as nice from what I have seen.

ashley I think they look GREAT! I love the tinies you include in the batch too. We have a canning jar that I put my tinies into and other small stuff. I bet your kids are loving it.
