I have cut cabs for years and have had angelite around for a while but have not cut any. For those new to angelite, it is a form of anhydrite (light blue Calcium Sulfate) think plaster of paris or dry wall is made from CaSO4
Anyway, I cut a piece and after finishing it, still had some glue scum on it from where I had dopped it and so I left it and several other cabs in a tub of really soapy water to soak.
When I came back to clean off the glue residue on these cabs the anhydrite was now eaten away after sitting a week in soapy water. the surface is pitted and and oxidized, it must be recut. All the other cabs are jaspers, agates and obsidian and were not affected.
Either something in the soap or the chlorine in the water destroyed the finished surface front and back of the cab.
So heads up if you cut angelite don't let it set too long around moisture.
