Hey Kim, here's a couple of photos of something that I carved just playing around. My son, a diehard Beatles fan, insisted that I call it "Rocky Raccoon". I cut a slab of white oak with my chain saw and I just thought it looked like a raccoon should be looking out of it, like a hollow log. So after a little cutting and carving, there was one. Sorry this wasn't rock-related. Ron

Awesome woodwork Ron. Have you considered working in two shiny stones as eyes? Just a thought...

Ron, My son says he really likes your raccoon! Consider that a very big compliment, because he rarely has anything nice to say about other peoples wood work.
I think it's a great piece too. Lots of patience for sure... how long did it take you to carve it, burn it, stain it, and varnish it?

Oh no, that belongs on a wall, not with someone parking their fanny on it.

A raccoon you don't mind in your house. Well done, Ron.

Hey Ron. Excellent work. Nice slab of oak too. With all those rays in the grain, I bet it would look awesome quarter-sawn. Do you have any long pieces? I can just imagine what a cane would look like made out of that wood. Love to see your carvings, thanks for posting it.

Wow! It would be so cool to duplicate that in pet wood and make a bola or something. Wish I knew how to carve!
