Hi all, Theres a new cheesey little gift shop in Helen, GA, to add to a long list of cheesey shops, but through the window I could see what apeared to be big polished agates on wooden stands, with an oriental feel to them. Sand scrit painted on them and such. Beautiful rocks of all shapes sizes and colors, not slabs but whole rocks, polished vby hand somehow. While I was looking around I found some "unfinished" stones that had been coarsely shaped withe the bottom cut off for the stand. I guess the person doing it must have decided the stone was too internaly fractured or something, so he was selling the stone "as is". It weighs right at 3 lbs and I got it for $4.85. (Local discount included). I Think it's Moss agate, but if you guys know better, let me know. This is wet. Front Back I guess one mans trash is my new found treasure (hopefully). What'cha think? cookie

Looks like Moss agate to me, but I'm no expert. It's a real nice one though! You gonna slab it or break it? would be cool to see it polished and put on one of your necklaces.

I just talked to my mom, and at least this Dr. has given them hope when all the others said "Their's nothing more we can do." He said it will take a while to see signifagent improvement, about 8 months, but pain management is what he does and he believes he can help. He finaly was able to convince my farther that narcotic pain meds are not addictive if they are monitored and you have real pain. Tey go straight to the pain centers and do their job. Dad is also on an antidepressant and I think that will help. At least there is hope, and if he can keep his chin up for a few months... Keep your fingers crossed and Thanks for asking!

hey cookie sounds like your dad hates pills --i did too hated the way the pain killers made me feel but if ya only take them when its bad you build up a tolerance and they don't make ya loopy anymore but they still help the pain ----- and hes right they are very addictive if not monitored

I think it will look wonderful sliced up - can't wait to see. About the pain meds, my husband has been on opiates for a couple of years, heavy duty dosages and no addiction issues and they get the pain down to manageable levels. He can at least function. They never get rid of the pain completely. There are some things your dad might want to focus on, they cause some side effects that can be troublesome - eat lots of soluble fiber (apples, prunes, etc.). The loopiness does diminish after the body begins to adjust, esp. at the lower dosage levels. Best of luck to you all.

Cool- can't wait to see what you got- As for the pain pills- well they got me on some- (non-addictive) and I hate how tired they make me- All cold a sleepy- talked to the doctor about it and all he did was laugh- I have a choice- Pain, warmth and awakeness- or no pain- coldness and sleepy- well I tried to wean off em but My body still needs to do some healing- after half a day without em my wrist and ankles were screamin!
