I just realized I forgot to include the 220 grit with my order from The Rock Shed last week. Hey, I love paying for shipping twice-- NOT!
Anyway, when I went to put in my order tonight for it, I noticed that you can either get a 120/220 grit or a 220 graded grit. I think I understand that the first grit will be made up of granules sized from 120 to 220, and the 220 would be all granules at that size. If that is correct, then which is the best option to use for the beginning stage in my vibratory tumbler?
I also noticed there are two types of 500 grit you can order, one for Silicon Carbide Grit and the other for Aluminum Oxide Grit. Both descriptions say they are good for either vibratory or rotary tumblers. What is the difference between these two and which is the best to use in a my vibratory tumbler?
There's lots of direction to use a 220 grit stage, but it gets confusing when there are options for it.
Thanks for your help!

Silicon carbide and Aluminum Oxide break down differently. From what I've been told, i am definitely no expert, silicon carbide breaks down with same jagged edges as it starts with and Aluminum Oxide breaks down with rounded edges. Thats all I know if that's even correct.

I agree. Silicon carbide shatters and keeps cutting, while aluminum oxide just wears down into round pieces. I use 120/220 for the second step (first in the vibe) and 500 silicon carbide for stage 3. That's just me though. -Nicholas
