After reading through many different tumbling tutorials and lots of comments posted through the Forum, here are some questions I've gathered along the way.
1. How often do you oil the bearings of your rotary tumbler, when using it regularly w/o stop?
2. Why shouldn't I tumble ocean agates with hammer broken rocks?
3. What are some ways to reduce the noise of your vibe tumbler?
4. How many days do you generally tumble on the polish stage of your vibe to achieve a high gloss shine?
5. What is the largest rock size I can tumble successfully in a 3 pound rotary barrel (Lortone 33B)?
6. What is the largest rock size I can tumble successfully in a 10 pound viratory tumbler (Thumler's UT-10)?
7. What is the percentage of media to rocks I should include in stages 2-x of a vibe tumbler (220, 500, 1000, polish) and for those of you who include media, have you tried it w/o it and what was the difference between using it or not?
Thanks!

1- about 3 to 4 times a year. I use 3in1 2- No idea.I'm guessing that they may be different hardnesses? 3- Send it to me- then it will be nice and quiet- but really I only rotary 4- see #3 5- about 3/4 of the diameter of the barrel. (maybe a little more) 6- see #5 (or what ever you can fit through the top) 7- No idea

Here’s what I do in regards to some of your questions. Oil- about once a month but only a drop or so. Stone size in a 3 lb barrel -largest would be 1–3/4”, and only one this size. Media - about 20% but I only use it on stage 3 and 4. You will find your groove, just keep at it.
