Ok, I did mess up. I have been working on these cabs for about a year. Unknown material. I think it is Malachite. Been using Dremel and hand tools. Goal was to have two cabs for a pair of earrings. They were to be put in silver settings, not wire wrapped. I wanted them to have a sloped girdle, not a specific flat area on the sides. Ended up with a flat area on each end of one cab. Should I go back and smooth off the girdle ridges or leave as is? There is also some type of stain(?) on one of the cabs. I do not know if this was part of the slab or not. I really don’t want to go through all of the polishing again. They might be better as pendants or rings, since they are not well matched. For size reference, there are marks every ½”, so these are about ¾” long. A little less than ¼” wide. My first attempts at making a smaller cab. Advice appreciated.

Depends on the mount. If you are going to bezel set them you may be able to hide the flat because the bezel might cover it.
