I got these rocks on a recent trip to the Conecuh river near Andalusia Al.
I think that they might be some kind of quartzite or maybe chert ?
With our cheapo hardness test kit, it's at least a mohs 8
It's actually a nice silvery blue color, very sparkly where it's fractured.
And somewhat translucent on the edges.
Any ideas ?

Thanks ashley , but I think jamesp nailed it as "Tallahatta Sandstone". And with all the research he's been doing on Alabama rocks I think I believe him :-) Patty
