Ok. You have some new rock to put in the tumbler and you hope for the best. There will surely be a beauty in the bunch. After the first week you open the tumbler and most of the stone is shaping up nicely. However, tucked away in the bottom is a piece of stone so foul, so undercut and vuggy that you don't even want this thing in your home or yard. That's what I wanna see! Here is my ugly rough: Show me worse!

I have worked with aventurine from three different sources. It is never vuggy. There will be some cruddy pieces but I've never seen a vug in it!

I don't have anything like that Joe, but this is the 2 pounds of Mexican lace that I ordered from Mine run Gems a while back . Don't they just want to make you cry? Good money well spent! NOT!!!

Wow Alice, there is only supposed to be a little ugly rough in a rock batch. Not all of it. Sorry to hear of you bad experience. Mine is just one tiny bad piece (quarter size). The rest of the batch is nice stone and is in polish until next week.

my entire 2 pound order was crap rock. Man was I ticked when they said "Sure send it back, but please include $XX for shipping, so we can send you rocks of the exact same quality"

Sands, I was able to break a few of these rocks by hand. All they're good for is making slurry, if anything

That is an ugly piece of Jasper Joe, and poor Alice, mexican leaverite. Bad enough the go out and find leaverite, but to unknowingly buy it!

Wow Joe, that is one ugly hunk of rock. I try to avoid putting grit catchers like that in my tumbler. Don't hink I have one that can even come close.
Alice: That has got to be the junkiest lace agate I've seen ever! Thanks for warning all of us about those guys. Talk about a place to not order from....Jeez!

Ooooh, Alice wins!
Wow, who'd you order that from again? .... Mine Run Crap? You gotta post that as a warning in the vendors section, if you haven't already done so.
The only good in this is that you only ordered 2 lbs.... imagine if you'd ordered 20 lbs!!!

Rollingstone, I already posted up a warning a while back when I first got them (about 8 or 9? months ago). I saw Joe's thread for ugly rough and dug the picture up from photo bucket.
now if I can only find that thread (I'm pretty sure I posted it up in the general section)

You can't get any uglier than this "ruff." Oh wait, you're talking about "rough" not "ruff, ruff." Condor
